How do I know if a flower pot is waterproof? Should consumers always use an inlay?
No flower pot is guaranteed to be 100% waterproof. Yes, when used indoors, we strongly recommend using an appropriately sized inlay in each pot. This will prevent damage to the pot, and also to the surface the pot is standing on or hanging above.
We work with natural products such as ceramics and cement. Clay has a porous open structure, which if over-watered, can allow water to pass through. To prevent this, we recommend putting an inlay in the pot. Metal is also a natural product, it can oxidize when in contact with water. Of course you don't want that, you want to keep the pot and also the furniture the pot stands on, beautiful. Precisely because metal is subject to oxidation, it is extra important to protect it with an appropriate inlay. Our basketware is hand woven from natural grass and cane species such as sea grass. They come with eco-plastic insides, but even for basketry, we recommend using a Lucas inlay when planting directly into the basket. In short, if you want to make sure the pot is 100% waterproof, use an appropriate inlay. Ask your retailer for the right size inlay for your pot.
Extra tip! Always water your plants by the stem. That way no water can get between inlay and pot. Oh yes, of course our glass flower vases are waterproof. Your customer can also find this information on the consumer website www.tscollection.nl.
